With a thick swatch of hair and beaming brown eyes, Imani Dorsey came into this world at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday at Allen County Regional Hospital.
“I had no idea I had the New Year’s baby,” her mother, Magan Dorsey, told the Register Thursday. “It hadn’t crossed my mind until they told me.”
Young Imani was born via Cesarean section. She weighed 8 pounds, 10.3 ounces and was 17½ inches long.
She has two older siblings, Raquan, 15, and Maliyah, 12.
“She was quite a bit bigger than her brother and sister when they were born,” Magan said.
Her older brother weighed in at about 7 pounds when he was born. Her sister weighed 5 pounds.
“I guess she was ready,” Magan joked.
Magan recently moved to Iola from her native Emporia, “to try something new,” she said.
Young Imani will be the centerpiece, her mother promises.
“This is very exciting,” Magan said. “She’s already a bundle of joy. She’s going to bring lots of smiles to this family.”
Imani is the great-granddaughter of Mary McClain, Emporia.
